Winona State Coach Brian Bergstrom Resigns

WINONA, Minn. – With the resignation of head football coach Brian Bergstrom, athletic director Eric Schoh has named Brian Curtin the interim head coach, effective immediately, until a national search is completed.

Curtin, who has been on the WSU coaching staff since 1997, was the special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach during the 2024 season. Curtin has helped lead the Warriors to eight NSIC Championships, as well as three NSIC South Division crowns. WSU has advanced to the NCAA Division II Playoffs seven times since Curtin's arrival while also playing in three Mineral Water Bowls.

During his three seasons at Winona State, Bergstrom led the Warriors to an 18-16 record with an NSIC South championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2022.

Curtin will serve as the interim head coach until a national search for Winona State's next head coach is completed.
