Vulcans Win Round One Playoff on Final Play

California trailed East Stroudsburg by eight points heading into the final quarter. A 13-play, 77-yard drive culminated in a touchdown run by quarterback Davis Black and was followed by a two-point conversion to tie the game at 27 early in the final period. The game would remain tied for the next 12:44. The Vulcans took possession for the final time with 4:45 remaining and would use 13 plays to move the ball into scoring position. Anthony Beitko converted with a 29-yard field goal on the game's final play to break the tie and give California a 30-27 first round victory. The Vulcans will not face Ashland in the second round and will have an opportunity to host the game as the higher seeded team. Ashland upset No. 2 seed Charleston in similar fashion, with a field goal on the final play of the game. Full storty to follow.
