Lenoir-Rhyne played from behind nearly all day in their first round road playoff game at West Alabama but the Bears prevailed 37-34 to advance to round two. The Bears' offense struggled to establish the run, but Jalen Ferguson passed for 411 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Adonis McDaniel tallied 202 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, highlighed by a 78-yard score late in the third quarter that would tie the game. Teammate Songa Yates had 107 receiving yards. The other SR2 game on the Bears' side of the bracket was won by unseeded Virginia Union, creating a possibility for Lenoir-Rhyne to host a round two game next Saturday. Confirmation of the location of this contest is expected by Sunday evening.
