Ferrum College has announced the schedule for the program's first season of NCAA Division II football. The private liberal arts college based in Ferrum, Virginia is reclassifying from Division III and will be a full member of Conference Carolinas beginning this fall. 2025 will also mark the first season of football for Conferene Carolinas as a league since 1975. Ferrum has been a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) in Division III since 2018. The ODAC is also the prior home to one of D2's newest members, Emory & Henry.
The Panthers will kick off their D2 era with a road trip to Salisbury, North Carolina to take on Catawba College of the South Atlantic Conference. Ferrum will stay on the road for week two, visiting FCS member and fellow Virginia school, Virginia Military Institute. The first home game of the season will occur on Sept. 13 with a visit from Shaw University of the CIAA. The following week will mark the first round of Conference Carolinas play with a trip to UNC Pembroke. League play willl consume five of the next six weeks but will be broken up by a non-league game at GSC heavyweight Delta State on Oct. 18. The Panthers will close the season at home against Concord of the MEC, unless the team is participating in the Conference Carolinas championship.
Ferrum is coming off a 5-5 record and a fifth place finish in the ODAC standings in 2024. The Panthers' most recent winning season was a 6-4 campaign in 2021.
