Jordan Terrell
Running back, Barton
Jordan Terrell accounted for nearly 64% of Barton’s offensive output in the Bulldogs’ 28-24 win at home over UVA-Wise. The junior running back carried the ball 26 times for a total of 256 yards, averaging 9.8 yards per carry. His longest run of the day was a 63 yard touchdown run that gave Barton the lead with just 3:27 remaining. He also had a 22 yard touchdown earlier in the game.
Tanner Volk
Safety, Central Washington
Tanner Volk registered 13 total tackles including 1.5 tackles for loss in Central Washington’s upset victory over No. 10 Angelo State. His biggest impact was in the turnover category. Late in the first half, Volk thwarted an Angelo State scoring threat with an INT that he returned 15 yards. The Wildcats were able to cash in on the possession with a game tying field goal with 0:03 remaining in the half. In the fourth quarter, Angelo State was in position to cut the Wildcats’ lead to one score. Volk intercepted a pass on a fake field goal attempt and returned it 81 yards for a touchdown. The play extended the Central Washington lead to 27-10. They would go on to win by a final of 27-24.
Trey Thomas
DB / return specialist, Shorter
Shorter defensive back and return specialist Trey Thomas accounted for two touchdowns and a safety in the Hawks’ win over Chowan. Thomas opened the scoring with an 88-yard punt return for touchdown in the first quarter. In the third quarter, Thomas returned a blocked PAT 98 yards for two points. In between special teams scores, Thomas returned an interception 76 yards for a touchdown as the first half clock expired. He tallied two pass breakups, a tackle and QB hurry on defense as well.
