Charleston secures a share of MEC title

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The University of Charleston football team clinched at least a share of the Mountain East Conference regular season title by defeating West Liberty, 38-0, on Saturday afternoon.

UC, which is 9-0 overall and 7-0 in the MEC, is ranked No. 9 in the AFCA Top 25 poll. The Golden Eagles have held four of nine opponents in single digits and seven consecutive games by double figures. Saturday’s result against the host Hilltoppers was the fourth time this season Charleston has won by at least 20 points.

The University of Charleston plays at West Virginia Wesleyan next Saturday, Nov. 9, and closes the regular season at home against rival West Virginia State on Saturday, Nov. 16. A win in either of those contests will give the Golden Eagles their second consecutive outright MEC football title.
